I'm using VS2013 to use typescript, but I cannot get the compile-on-save working. (I have set the settings in options). What do I do wrong?

Are you using the compile on save setting that works for projects or the one for non-projects?

I have both enabled, but doesn't help...

I should add, both should work, and I think I was using compile-on-save inside of a project with VS2013 preview last night with 0.9.0.1, so there may be another step to it to get the bug to show up.

Did a renewed try. Removed all extensions I had installed, reset VS settings and created a new MVC 4 project. Added a new typescript file, but then still it doesn't update the .js on save. Also doesn't work for empty "vs2013" web project.

Any ideas on what to try next?

I have the exact same problem in vs2013.
In vs2012 it works fine..

I had problems at first too in VS2013 after installing VS2013 and what fixed it for me was uninstalling TypeScript and then re-installing it.

Ah, I think I might see what the issue is.

If you start a new "HTML Application with TypeScript" project, does compile-on-save work for you? If so, it might be that your MVC4 project does not have (or doesn't have an up-to-date) support for compiling TypeScript. If so, you'll need to add it to your specific project, and you can get the parts you need from that default template.

jon: Great tip: that works. :) WOuld help a lot of people i'd say to put this as a giant notice in the installer of typescript....
